In the featured screenshot, there’s a Japanese Fortress behind my character Aikiko Tanaka (which she built with the help of her staff). In Conan Exiles Enhanced, you can build bases inspired by a wide variety of real world architectural styles. In essence, your play style can either focus on honing your skills as a warrior, or building architectural masterpieces or both.
If on the other hand, you’d rather focus on defending your own fortress, or storming someone else’s and leave the base building to the developers, then check out UbiSoft’s For Honor, which allows players to join one of a variety of real world inspired factions known for their prowess as the warriors of history, and fight it out in team battles where you’re fighting to gain ground on large territory maps.

Today, some of these fortresses and their sub-structures stand to this day as works of art and reminders of our history and the sacrifices those people made that led to the countries we now inhabit, and our ties to our early origins.

The building of fortresses led to many of the modern engineering advances in construction and modern architecture we enjoy today. Throughout the world there are many nations who perfected these structures and whose sites still exist until this day.

After perusing all of these awesome fortresses, it kind of makes me wonder what we can expect from Doctor Doom’s Castle in Latveria in the MCU’s upcoming film: Avengers: Doomsday.
