Tales Of The Sanctum: Aerth Mother video and animated desktop...

 


She's one of the sources fuelling the aetheric weave in Tales Of The Sanctum: A Lady's Prerogative. Years ago, in 2014, I initially rendered a rather tame version of this same animation, though at the time and for the budget, it really did a lot for Shhhh! Digital Media and A Lady's Prerogative.

Recently, one of my projects using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Daz3D and Unreal Engine 5.4 was to redo this animation with a modern hardware and FX rendering pipeline. Between other projects, I worked on this one, finishing the animation and first generation render (no 2D video or image compositing) and left it to collect dust in one of the folders on my computer.

It having been there for a couple months, I decided this week (August 26, 2024) to add a few bells and whistles and finish the project. I did a bit more work on the particle system in Unreal Engine after getting advice from the Unreal Engine community, and recorded it as three layers, the first layer being the background galaxy spiral rotating rather quickly. The second layer being a 2D image sequence rendered as a high resolution animated sprite of the Aether Mother, and the third being the Shhhh! Digital Media logo and web urls.

After a bit of tweaking and doing my best to loop the animation, the final composited version is what you're seeing.

Thanks to the great hardware (AMD Ryzen and NVidia RTX) and software tools I mentioned above, I was able to turn this over relatively quickly, going into it with only a vague idea of how I was going to do it.

As a tech guy with a varied background that includes a lot of professional programming and production work, I was able to come at this very short project and achieve what I sought in under six hours total, with rendering times under a minute.

With that great hardware and software, most of my time was spent digesting the Niagara API and Unreal Engine the Blueprint system, which make creating complex projects that would otherwise require a lot of hand coding, a very trivial matter. Udemy was also a great source of learning for this and other multimedia projects.

Updated
Once you have the program installed, you can then download the .dream file from Wincustomize.com and install it using the DeskScapes interface, or by right clicking on the .dream file and selecting the option from the pop-up context-menu.

Looks like the file was removed from Wincustomize.com on account of its riskiness (though I'd qualify that more as innocence) but no harm done and no offense taken. I completely understand. To deal with that I'm offering the download.
